VARIMAX was founded in 1946 and is known for its excellent workmanship and customised equipment for the marine industry. VARIMAX specialises in customising modern decanter technology to various climates, different legislations and technical requirements.

VARIMAX started as a family business and at first the production was based on Variable Speed Drives. These are still in production at VARIMAX.

In 1997 VARIMAX began the production of Decanter Centrifuges. The VARIMAX decanter is based on a patented bearing system permitting operation at over-critical speeds, with subsequent increased efficiency and capacity. A special design of these decanters has been adapted to the marine industry for the clarification of sludge oil for recycling. Today the company has customers worldwide within the shipping industry.

In 2004 VARIMAX was acquisited by the Westrup Group which is a major Danish industrial company specializing in the design and manufacturing of advanced mechanical equipment. Among Westrup’s other products are machinery for seed conditioning and equipment for the paint- and pigment industry.

The Company has about 160 employees and several subcontractors.
